I was born and raised in Grand Rapids. My wife, Jan, and I currently live in the Grand Rapids area. Between us, we have 8 children and 10 grandchildren.
My law practice is located in Wyoming, Michigan and focuses totally in the estate planning and business succession planning areas. As a charter member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and a former Legal Services Network Attorney for AARP, I am dedicated to the LOVING TRUST process.
I am a frequent speaker and I conduct frequent seminars on estate and business succession planning for both the public, financial planners, insurance professionals, investment representatives and CPA's.
I am a former professor of business, property and trust law for Northern Michigan Community College. I was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in the 1980's to a four-year term as a member of the National Advisory Council to the U.S. Small Business Administration. My memberships include the West Michigan Estate Planning Council, The Michigan State Bar Association, the West Michigan Estate Planning Council, and the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
I am also a decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
